Can I connect insulated stove pipe directly to the wood stove?

I am hooking up a wood stove and was wondering if it's possible to connect the insulated pipe directly to the wood stove.

You need to use the insulated pipe from the ceiling box up. You DON'T necessarily have to settle for single wall pipe down to the stove. There is a pipe called "close clearance" stove pipe which is double wall but not insulated. We heat our store with wood and the pipe stays cool enough that it won't burn you on contact. If you're using a good air tight EPA stove you shouldn't be losing enough heat up the pipe to help "heat" the house with. If you can post what brand of insulated pipe you're using I can send you all of the part numbers that you need. Hope this helps! I hate seeing so much bad information on here!!

should i leave the doors open on my fireplace or does it work better closed with the fan blower?

I have never operated a fireplace, I just bought a house with a fireplace, and not really sure what works better. Also there is a trap door in the floor of the fireplace that has a tunnel to another door under the glass doors, what is that used for?

Use the fan blower. If you leave the door open, sparks will fly out and put burn marks in your carpet or floor. The trap door is to let you get rid of the accumulated ashes. It can also be used to create a draft if there is not enough air getting in.
