One of the most tranquil places to be is my aunt and uncles backyard. The fragrance of newly bloomed pink Impatiens, blue Phlox and yellow Lady Bank Rose fills the evening air. A low hum comes from bees buzzing around the Wysteria Vine that shades the wooden swing below. Chipmunks scurry along the ground in search of a stray sunflower seed that has fallen from the bird feeder above. A bullfrog's deep croak echos off the still pool of water that surrounds him. Yellow Finches that perch on trees nearby sing a melodious tune. At the corner of the porch is an antique barrel filled to the brim with rain water used for watering the garden. Birdhouses that hang from the tin roof of the porch gently sway in the warm summer breeze. The chirping of crickets bring warm feelings of home in the country. The bright green lizzard is well camouflaged as it rests on a fern. My aunt and uncle's backyard is the perfect place to relax.

Fireplace Fire Pit

Fireplace Fire Pit
Fireplace Fire Pit
Have you been to a restaurant with an open fire in the center of it? There's one here in Minneapolis?

I'm wondering if people know the name of it, or a different one !! It's on Hennepin and 9th. It isn't a fireplace, it 's a fire pit, open fire in the middle of a room in the restaurant.

I have been to several here in Utah, but I do not recall the names of them they are very beautiful, Utah has many outstanding and restaurants and lots of them are theme places and many have great ratings, we are very lucky here. Where I live our town is only two miles long and we do not have very many places to eat we have to drive two hours to Vegas or 1 hour to Utah and it is a small town there.

fractions for 7th grade math homework?

We did a huge unit on fractions in the 6th grade but I haven't done them in a year and have just been given this homework assignment. Even though it's way easy I can not remember for the life of me how to do it! Here is the problem:

Mrs. Smith is making wooden benches for her birdhouse from a strip of thin board. She cuts 1/12 of the strip for another project. Benches take 1/8 of a strip.

a.) Suppose Mrs. Smith uses the remainder of the strip for benches. How many benches can she make?

b.) Draw diagrams to confirm your answer.

I am pretty sure you find 1/8 of 9/12 so you multiply 1/8 by 9/12 but I got 9/96 when I multiplied Answers immediately please! Thank you!

a.) You have to convert the fractions so that they have a common denominator. The least common denominator that both 8 and 12 go into is 24, so:

1/12 = 2/24
1/8 = 3/24

So she took away 2/24 of the strip of wood. This means that there are 22/24 of the strip left. Divide 22/24 by 3/24, as that is the amount of wood it takes to make a bench:

(22/24) / (3/24) (now you can simplify the 22/24)
(11/12) / (3/24) (change the division sign into multiplication and multiply by one of the fraction's reciprocals)
11/12 * 24/3 (multiply the numerator by the numerator and the denominator by the denominator)
264/36 (simplify)
66/9 (further simplify)
22/3

So she can make 22/3 benches, or 7 and 1/3 benches.

b.) Sorry, you'll have to do the diagram yourself.

Question for Pit Bull advocates????

If you support ownership of Pits, Staffies and other bully breeds, do you also support ownership regulation and responsibility? In other words would you be willing to pay for and carry proof of liability insurance as well as get a special license from your local authorities to own such a dog and without a breeders license wuold you also support mandatory spay/neuter laws for these pets. The reason is, there are MANY peple who enjoy "bullys" but freak out when someone suggests regulating them. If you really are a responsible pet owner and want to diminish the negativity surrounding the bully dogs then why not adhere to regulation that supports the responsible people and eliminates the idiots who give the news media and bully haters gas for their fire?

Actually I have a Rotti/AmStaff mix, and I DO carry insurance to have my dog. I would definately get a special license, and FYI: My dog is already neutered. Has been since 6 months old! I don't condone over breeding of any dog, but I will fight to keep mine regardless of the laws. My town clerk, who licenses dogs has met mine and loves him. She is not "ghetto" scum. She is a sweet 60ish woman. I am all for regulating ownership of these breeds so I can be happy keeping mine.
