Green energy and global warming?

Ok, please do not say I'm a nut or anything, I love the protection of the environment, because my head has been full of all these 'Save The Earth' TV ads. Is global warming really true? Is the merger ice? My beloved penguins! If you tell me if it's real or if it is aware of this because you are a scientist with a beard, please answer the following:)

No, you're not a nut job, and very commendable that ask questions and search for facts and truth. First, let's clarify some points. Global warming occurs and we have the evidence of global cooling. These are natural cycles have been happening for millions of years. Now, what I think you're talking about global warming is man-made global warming or anthropogenic (CGA). While there is evidence of natural global warming and cooling, no evidence concrete of the CGA, in my educated opinion. After studying the systems of land, geology and atmospheric science, I am not convinced that people humans are playing any significant part in global warming if global warming is even happening now. Please study the planet's history .... and what I mean by this is the last 100 years. The planet is 4.6 billion years. 100 years is a very short amount of time (in geological time) that people use to describe the weather on the planet. The planet has been much warmer in the past, before humans. What could explain the events of heating;? I appreciate your desire to protect the planet and we must be responsible, however, are also a part of nature, like penguins. It's good that they are asking questions, it is important to ask questions. Keep it up.

What costs lesss to run: A gas fireplace or gas heater?

Increasingly cold now and I was wondering which is more profitable for run the gas fireplace or gas heater work? The fireplace works well if you're right by it, but does not heat the whole house and the heater does. I like to use the fireplace when I am watching tv for it, and then when I go to bed, to operate the heater. But if it costs less, I can only be running the heater place all the time.

Heat output is measured in BTUs, used as a thermal unit ALCS for the comparison and measurement. It was about 20 to 25 years ago that cement fireplace logs started showing up in fireplaces. If you were around back in those days you remember that these first logs were pretty fake looking and the flames didn't look right either.

Today, I'm sure that if you saw a high quality set of gas logs actually burning, most likely you would think they were real. Today's logs are very real looking, in fact you can find them looking like several different wood species. The vented gas logs contain vermiculite and glass wool. When the flames burn around these items, it looks just like glowing embers, exactly like you would see in a real wood fire.

At first there was only one type of log and that was the vented type. The vented type log requires a working chimney. These logs produce a large amount of heat but there is a reason the damper must be open so a large amount of that heat goes right up the chimney. The reason for this is because of carbon monoxide, a deadly, toxic gas. The carbon monoxide results from a low tech burner that is used to combust the gas. To keep people safe the gas has to be vented, and so the heat follows.

Today we have a second type of cement gas logs, the vent free type. Vent free logs are entirely different. They have specially designed burners that are not covered by anything, they are behind and beneath the logs. These burners combust with enough air so as to burn at the highest efficiency rates, producing very minimum amounts of carbon monoxide. Vent free logs approved by the American Gas Association are equipped with oxygen depletion sensors for your health. These logs are not as realistic as the vented logs because you can not cover them with anything, thus no burning embers.
