help with dimplex electric fire?
ive had my dimplex electric fire since dec 09 everything has been until a few days ago. When i turn on the heater its starts making a loud whirring sound! Can anyone help my make it stop or shall i ring Dimplex its under guarantee, does anyone know if they come out to your house to look at it because its fitted snug into a fireplace?
I am not familiar with your device, but is sounds like it has an air circulating fan inside, and that has "sucked" a small piece of paper or cellophane, or whatever, through the grill and that debris has hung up either on the fan blades, or adjacent to the spinning blades, thus causing the "whirring" sound.
Since it's under warranty, call the company's 800 customer service number regarding the problem. I don't know if they will have a technician to go to your house to correct the problem, or whether you would have to remove the device and ship it to them for warranty repair.
IF I'm right about the cause, you could do it yourself, IF you are mechanically inclined so as to be able to open up the device and remove the offending blockage. On the other hand, any unqualified persons working on it could cause damage which could invalidate your warranty protection.
If you are not qualified, then any good HVAC [Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning] technician should be qualified to make the fix. Good luck.
